Patsy Cline, original name Virginia Patterson Hensley, was born September 8, 1932, in Winchester, Virginia, She was a country music singer whose talent and wide-ranging appeal made her one of the classic performers of the genre, bridging the gap between country music and more mainstream audiences. She was killed in a plane crash March 5, 1963, near Camden, Tennessee along with fellow Grand Ole Opry stars Hawkshaw Hawkins and Cowboy Copas.
